We read a siding scope the way we read a roof one: each part on its own line, with the materials, the trim and the preparation of the wall named. A total with nothing behind it is a number, not an estimate, and it is the first thing to ask about. Compare scopes that cover the same work, or the comparison tells you nothing about price. Ask who will pull the permit and whether the trim is priced separately, since both change the total.
